Hardwood and Blooms - PPA225

As soon as I saw the sketch from Pals Paper Arts, I had an idea of what I wanted to do. It's always nice when what you see in your mind works out when you actually put it on paper too! :) Surprisingly the hardest part of this card was getting all the angles cut right.

 

As I've mentioned before, I'm really enjoying coloring much more than I ever expected when Stampin' Up! first released the Blendabilities markers. They are so much fun and I find it very relaxing to color with them.

Rustic Pink Christmas Card

I know, I know, another Christmas card... I'll try to do something different this week, but I wanted to share this card that I made for a challenge to create a "vintage chic" card. Single Flower Patch Bloom - CCMC313

Here's my card for this week's sketch at Create With Connie and Mary. I finally pulled out my Flower Patch set to make this card. Every time I'd looked at it before, I'd put it away since there were too many layers possible, and I was usually feeling lazy, lol. Anyway, since there was really only the need to make one flower I decided to give it a try. It was pretty fun, so I'm sure I'll be using it again soon. I was trying to get a more rustic look with the wood background, but I think it ended up too bright. Oh well... :)

Lovely as a Tree Father's Day

So today's card is kinda late, but here it is! This week has not been good for creating and blogging :(

 

I saw Amy K's Woodgrain frame the other day, and have wanted to do something similar ever since, so I decided the sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday would be a great place to try it. The twist for the sketch was to make a masculine card, so I made a father's day card.

I made this card using some new stuff I got in my last order. The flower stamp was smaller than I was expecting for some reason, but I really like it here. I used the Hardwood background stamp again, which I love so much.

Butterflies!! PPA193

I knew I wanted to use the little butterflies for the circles in this sketch from Pals Paper Arts, but I wasn't sure on the background. Then I spied my giant butterfly stamp and thought it'd be a great combination.

I love the Hardwood background stamp. It gives a nice rustic, country look.

A Daffodil Delightful Birthday Card - CCMC290

The minute I saw the colours for this week's challenge at Create With Connie and Mary, I knew exactly the card I wanted to make.

Something about Daffodil Delight makes me thing of spring - probably the daffodils :P

I love the Hardwood stamp and how when I use it on Smoky Slate it reminds me of old barn wood.

The triple layer card design worked great with this background stamp, easy to make and I like it a lot.

Two Challenges, One Card (CCMC286, MOJO328)

Here's a card I did using both a sketch challenge and a color challenge.

I like this color combination and will need to use it again. The sketch was different and more challenging than I expected.

Bird on a Tag

I made this card for a challenge on a Facebook group to use a tag on a card.

I don't (yet!) have the new tag topper punches from Stampin' Up! so I used the framelit from the Chalk Talk set to make my tag.

Recipe:

Stamps: Hardwood, Simply Sketched

Ink: Baked Brown Sugar

Paper: Retro Fresh DSP, Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, So Saffron card stock

Misc: Chalk Talk Framelits, Oval punch, sponge daubers, gold bakers twine, in color boutique details.

I sponged around the edges of the tag, sentiment and DSP, and added a strip of the DSP to the inside as well.

Loving the New 2014 Occasions Catalog Soooo Much!!

I love so many of the new 2014 stamp sets! At first I wasn't sure about some of them, but the more I use them, the more I <3 them!!

I made this card tonight with only new stamps. The background is the new Hardwood background stamp, which is just gorgeous! I stamped it in Smoky Slate ink on Smoky Slate Card stock. The other layers are Rose Red, Always Artichoke and Very Vanilla.

The flower is from the new Blessed Easter single stamp, which I ended up cutting into two stamps so I can use the tulips for non Easter cards. I embossed it with black embossing powder and colored with Rose Red and Always Artichoke markers.

The thank you sentiment comes from the  new Happy Watercolor set, which I also embossed in black. I finished it off with some little pearls.
