Another Great Year!

How convenient is it that I use the new stamp set called Another Great Year on the card to show on the last day of the year? :)

It's been an awesome year, and I'm happy to have gotten back into stamping and Stampin' Up! after a few years break where life was just too busy. I've met some great people this year thanks to card making, which I'm really happy about!

It's almost a friend's birthday, and I needed to make a card (of course!). I saw this card on Pinterest yesterday and loved it right away so of course I wanted to CASE it! 

 

Here's what I made:

I love love love the new Watercolor Wonder Washi tape. I always thought I was a silver girl (or white gold!) ;) but I'm loving the new gold colours coming out! 

I also put some washi on the inside to spruce it up a bit:

Paper: Whisper White, Perfect Plum (card stock)

Stamp: Another Great Year

Misc: Versamark, gold embossing powder, Watercolor Wonder washi tape, gold sequin trim, glue dots

That's it! A super simple card that looks elegant and fun at the same time!

Language of Love

I sat down to play with some more of my new stamps the other day, and wanted to make a Valentine's Day card. Here's the card I came up with.

It's using some items from the new 2014 Occasions catalog that you'll be able to order from in just a few days! The hearts are stamped with a new stamp from the Language of Love set in Real Red, Melon Mambo and Blushing Bride, and are punched with the Full Heart punch. I used my Paper Piercing tool and Template to poke the holes around the hearts. The background is embossed with the new Scalloped Textured Impressions embossing folder. The little hearts are punched in silver and red glimmer paper with the small heart punch. I finished off the card with the 1/8" silver ribbon and some silver rhinestones.

Colour Challenge Entry AW07

I was looking for some more inspiration today, so I found another challenge to try. This one really ended up being a challenge for me, because it was to use 3 colours: Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango and Coastal Cabana. I think Crushed Curry is my least favourite of all the SU colours. These colours also don't have many ribbons or embellishments currently available for them, so I needed to just use ink and paper.

Here's the card I came up with:

Paper: Whisper White, Tangerine Tango and Coastal Cabana

Ink: Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango and Coastal Cabana

Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, Label Love

Misc: Coastal Cabana Ruffle Stretch Trim, 1-3/4" Circle punch, Artisan Label punch

Watercolor Wonder Meets Chalk Talk

I just opened my pack of the new Watercolor Wonder DSP and WOW! It's freaking GORGEOUS!!! I'll be ordering many more packs I'm sure! It's available in the 2014 Occasion mini catalog in a few days.

I wanted to use a large piece of it in my card to show it off since I loved it so much. Here's what I came up with:

Recipe:

Stamps: Chalk Talk, Flower Shop

Paper: Watercolor Wonder DSP; Whisper White, Gumball Green, Island Indigo, Smoky Slate card stock

Ink: Smoky Slate, Island Indigo, Versamark

Misc: white embossing powder (flowers), heat gun, chalk talk framelits, 1 3/8" circle punch, pansy punch, 5/8" white organza ribbon, rhinestones.

Another Spring Mini Sneak Peek!

I was playing with some more new stuff to see how I like it, and this is what I came up with:

This is the new Honeycomb Hive Thinlits Die, which you can use like this or use to cut out the hexagons to use in other projects.

I sponged the background behind the honeycomb with various inks (Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Coastal Cabana & Strawberry Slush) in a random pattern on some Whisper White paper to create a stained glass effect. The flower is from the So Very Grateful set, which is also new in the spring mini. I colored it in with my blender pens and ink. The stripes under the sentiment is the new Watercolor Wonder washi tape. The sentiment is from the Remembering Your Birthday set from the 2013-2014 catalog. I finished off the flowers with a few pearls.

Playing with my new toys!

As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I get to pre-order stuff before the catalogs go live. I've had a bunch of stuff since the beginning of the month, but I was super busy with Christmas cards (orders and my own), and then on vacation, so today was my first chance to get to play with my new toys! :D
